Baby Magpie Abandoned and Taken in by Couple Forms Unlikely Friendship with Two Dogs

In Australia, a dog and her puppy have formed a solid friendship with a magpie, to the delight of their masters.

Animals will always amaze us, and this story straight from the land of kangaroos is the perfect example.

Two years ago, Juliette Wells and her partner Reece found an abandoned baby magpie in a dog park in Queensland (Australia). “It was magpie breeding season,” the young woman told People magazine. “Sometimes the magpies force the young to leave the nest for lack of space or food”.

An unlikely friendship

Faced with this situation, they decided to collect the bird named Molly because the specialized shelters in the region were saturated. Against all odds, the little creature has befriended Peggy, the couple’s Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Indeed, the two animals that everything opposes have developed habits as improbable as they are cute, such as rolling on the ground or taking a nap in the same basket. And Molly’s favorite activity is climbing the quadruped’s back.

According to Juliette, the magpie and the hairball became so close that the dog, who was in heat at the time, experienced a nervous pregnancy, and began producing milk for the little bird.

Their relationship intensified when the dog gave birth to her first puppy, a female named Ruby. She and Molly quickly became best friends.

For their part, Juliette and Reece make sure that all the animals in the household get the space they need to live together peacefully, which includes leaving Molly outside “to get to know her surroundings and his fellows”.

Animals fascinate the web

Unsurprisingly, the couple regularly post photos of their companions on social networks. Today, the trio’s Instagram account is followed by more than 192,000 followers. One thing is certain, the publications remind us how wonderful animals are.

Owners aren’t shy about being honest about the hard work of caring for one wild animal and multiple dogs: “It’s important that people know the reality and the work we do to make this possible,” said the Australian.

Still according to her words, she is lucky to take care of the magpie because she benefits from the advice of a group of wild animal rescuers.
