Last December, Rosabella was curled up in a ball to fight against the winter cold. Left in a Minnesota alley with nothing but a thin wire cage to protect her from the elements, Rosabella wouldn’t have survived long.
Luckily, a volunteer spotted the pup and rushed him to a safe, warm place.
Almost a year has passed since that trying day, and Rosabella’s life has completely changed – for the better.
“She weighed only 19 pounds, when she should have weighed more than 45 pounds,” says Kelli Hanson, director of marketing and communications for Ruff Start Rescue. “We don’t know how long she waited [dans le froid]but I think it was noticed quite quickly”.
The volunteer worked quickly to free Rosabella and get her to safety in the rescue, where she was able to get out of the cold.
“She was extremely affectionate and grateful to be warm,” Hanson said.
Rosabella quickly found her forever home as she worked to regain her health. Today, the former wanderer is flourishing. Her new mom offered an update, which the rescue noted in a Facebook post.
“After seeing her sad story on the news, I knew I had to reach out to her to see what I could do to help her,” Rosabella’s mother told Ruff Start Rescue. “Luckily, I was chosen to eventually adopt him”.
The woman introduced Rosabella to her dog, Lucy, and things went well.
“Lucy and I fell in love with her straight away,” the post continues. “She’s such a sweet girl, so happy and curious about everything. She follows us everywhere. She has definitely grown a lot, she is healthy and very active.”
Although not much is known about Rosabella’s past, she now enjoys walking around the neighborhood or the dog park, playing with her new sister, and taking naps to her heart’s content. She’ll never have to worry about surviving the brutal elements again.
“It has been a pleasure to have Rosabella in my life,” the post read. “She has such a sweet spirit, which is amazing given her background. Now she is getting much needed love in her forever home!”
