Tayla Clement, also known as “the girl who can’t smile”, opened up about how she fights back against haters and, despite her peculiarity, signed her first contract with a modeling agency.
Tayla was diagnosed at just eight months old, and all the while Clement has been bullied for looking “different”. The negativity expressed by society influenced the model so much that in her youth, she had her first suicidal thoughts.
I was bullied throughout my childhood and school years because of my syndrome, calling me a “toad” and other nasty words. I was told I couldn’t or shouldn’t be confident,” Tayla admitted.
But at some point, Tayla could see the beauty in her appearance and accepted it. The model realized that she only has her, so the girl must be strong and learn to defend herself.
Nobody else can be me and I can’t be nobody else and there’s so much beauty in that.”
While Tayla is often told that she can’t smile like most do, she finds her way of expressing happiness in her unique face.
A lot of people think I can’t smile, that’s not true. I always smile, it’s just that my smile is not that of most people”, assured Clement.
Negative comments always rain down on the girl, but they only make her laugh. Taila responds to the envious not with strong words, but with funny dances or cute videos.
Clément’s beauty and “zest” were noticed in a modeling agency. The young girl was contacted and now she signed her first contract by becoming a model for the famous Zébédée agency.
I really want to make my mark in the modeling industry. I know I can give people so much, and I have this incredible gift – the ability to inspire others,” Tayla Clement admitted in an interview with the Daily Star.
