Best Friends Take In 19-Year-Old Shelter Dog And Make Her Final Days Magical

Senior shelter dogs are often passed on by adopters, but these old dogs need love too. All dogs deserve a loving home where they will spend the twilight years of their lives.

Today, a sweet senior dog is down the street because two friends have given him a foster home and are dedicated to making the last weeks of the dog’s life as special as possible.

According to 9News, Lauren Siler of Dallas, Texas heard about a 19-year-old shelter dog named Annie who needed a home. She wrote that the dog had been “thrown into a shelter” by its former owners.

It looked like Annie would have to spend the rest of her life in a shelter, as the vets didn’t give her much of a chance to live;

But Lauren, along with her roommate and best friend Lisa Flores, were so moved by Annie’s story that they decided to take her in as adoptive parents. “I saw his tiny little face sitting in his poor little kennel,” Lorraine recalls.

The two housemates began sharing Annie’s adventures on social media and vowed to make the dog’s remaining time on earth as special as possible by compiling a “bucket list” of fun things Annie could do.

“Annie is having her best month in 19 years,” the Guardians wrote on Instagram. “She will know love, be treated like a princess and get lots of hugs, ice cream and burgers. When his time comes and he tells us it’s over, he won’t be alone in the shelter.”

Although she only has a few weeks left to live, Annie is still going strong months later and having fun like never before.

He was treated to burgers such as In-N-Out and Whataburger.

He had his birthday party.

On July 4, he swam in the pool.

He made a drawing.

And recently, he’s getting into the Halloween spirit.

Along with her two guardians, Annie has received a lot of love from people all over the world since her story went viral.

Her social media posts show the many gifts and letters people send her.

“Some of her Instagram Stories have had 4.2 million views,” Lauren told 9News. “We had to get a PO box for his fan mail.”

Annie took longer than expected. maybe he had so much fun that he doesn’t want to stop yet.

But the Guardians know her time will come sooner rather than later, but in the meantime they continue to give Annie the time of her life.

“Until she’s ready to go, we’re going to let her live her life,” Lauren told 9News. “It would break my heart even more if he spent his last day in a shelter.”

What a sweet story. All dogs deserve a loving home to spend the rest of their lives, and we’re thrilled that Annie has these two amazing friends to make her final days so special.
