People Are Creating A Dog Bus To Take Neighborhood Dogs For Small Excursions

For about six years, dogs in the town of Skagway, Alaska, who are often housebound, have had a special service that allows them to have fun and make friends.

The company behind this service, Mo Mountain Mutts, specializes in accompanying dogs on small outdoor adventures, like one big, happy pack.

But perhaps the best part of it all is how they get to their destination.

Every weekday, Mo Thompson and her husband, Lee, take their 20 to 40 canine clients for nature walks on trails near town. But rather than having those many dogs and their handlers end up in one place, the Thompsons came up with a much simpler — and cuter — way to do it.

They bought a bus and included door-to-door pickup in their service.

“We love it,” said Mo Thompson. And, obviously, the dogs too.
Here’s how Thompson describes their daily routine:

“I load up my dogs, go up and down town and back up, pick up clients and head to the trailhead.”

Sure, it might sound simple, but as this video of the pick-up process shows, boarding the bus is like a slice of heaven for these happy puppies.

From there things only get better as dogs can stretch their paws together on the trail.

This is dog walking at its best.

It’s fair to say that dogs who cycle or hike with Mo Mountain Mutts are happy.

“We have so much fun working with the dogs,” Mr. Thompson said.
