Waitress works hard to become a nurse: millionaire client helps her by paying her $20,000 in school fees

Not everyone can afford higher education, due to the high cost of some university tuition or specialized school courses. This problem is more pronounced in countries like the United States and the story of young Melissa Mainer is an example of the situation there.

Melissa knew she wanted to become a nurse, but the path to get there was going to be difficult and very expensive: the cost of studying in nursing school is quite high and to finance her studies, the young woman decided to take out a loan and work as a waitress to pay it back.

When Melissa took out her student loan, she had no plans to pay it off anytime soon. However, she decided to enroll in the school as she wanted to fulfill her dream. She knew she would have to work hard for a long time to reduce the debt load and sometimes felt discouraged thinking that she couldn’t pay it back so easily even after getting the coveted degree.

“I don’t think I ever saw the end of it,” Melissa explained. The job she had chosen to earn some extra money was at the Peachtree restaurant. Melissa became a waitress at the restaurant, where she often served the same regular customers who were there every week. Luckily for her, one of those clients was Benjamin Olewine.

When Mr. Olewine met Melissa, he was retired. He had been president emeritus of a big company, which means he had become a millionaire. After retiring, he dedicated himself to donating his wealth to worthy people and causes. When he heard Melissa’s story, he realized he could help her. “I know all the servers. I know their problems. I realized I could help her,” Olewine commented.

Mr. Olewine promised Melissa that he would pay for her tuition so she could attend nursing school without worries. “Not just part of the tuition fees: Mr. Olewine has decided to pay them in full!” explained Melissa. In total, he contributed more than $20,000 towards tuition. “I will never forget his generosity,” said Melissa, who continues to meet Mr Olewine at the Peachtree restaurant, but in the form of a trained nurse enjoying a meal with a dear friend.

A wonderful story of generosity, altruism and affection that fills our hearts with happiness.
