Benjamin Carpenter, 33, from Shepley in West Yorkshire, is a true father hero. From his youth he dreamed of children, but, being homosexual and not having a permanent couple, he decided that it was easier for him to adopt children who had remained without parents.
After all, there are so many children in the world who need their parents’ affection! For three years, Benjamin convinced the guardianship authorities that he could be given children – and now he is the father of four children with special needs, to whom he devotes all his time and energy.
Benjamin Carpenter, 33, from Yorkshire, is known across Britain as a hero father and a broad-minded man.
Benjamin has four children with special needs. None of them are related to him by blood. Carpenter adopted them to give everyone a chance at a happy life.
“I grew up in a religious family, and I started dreaming about children, how I would take care of them, I started very early, says Benjamin. At the same time, it was not necessary for me that my children be related to me by blood. As soon as I thought about fatherhood, I started considering adoption options.
For three years, Benjamin convinced the guardianship of the seriousness of his intentions, and now 10 years ago his eldest son Jack came to the family.
Jack is now ten years old. He suffers from autism and obsessive compulsive disorder. Six-year-old Ruby has many physical disabilities, including reduced mobility.
Lilly, 5, is Ruby’s half-sister. She also has a number of physical issues. In addition, Lilly suffers from deafness. The whole family learned British Sign Language to communicate with Lilly.
Jack’s youngest son is Joseph, 2, who has Down syndrome. It took Benjamin three years to convince authorities that he was serious about adoption. He became one of the youngest gay fathers to adopt children.
According to Benjamin, despite the notoriety and mass support, he still often has to face difficulties in communicating with people – oblique glances, remarks and prejudices.
“Some even say that as a homosexual, I will certainly raise children as homosexuals, says the hero father. Others say I do it for the money. But I just learned to ignore such things. According to Carpenter, he is completely satisfied with the choice he made.
“Children are pure happiness for me! Benjamin said. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and wonder: what would my life be like without children? I’m sure it would be empty! »
