The sad news was announced overnight by his parents on Facebook. Maxence, who was battling cancer, died at the age of 11. The fight of the boy from Cléguer (56) had moved the whole of France.

Maxence – alias “Wolverine” – was 11 years old, he had been fighting since July 2018 against bone cancer – osteosarcoma – extended to the lungs. The little boy, a big fan of superheroes, fought his last battle: he died on Monday November 22, 2021 at his home in Cléguer (Morbihan), with his family. His funeral will take place on Monday, November 29.

“Everything happened so quickly, the day before he was still telling me that I was the best of mothers and that he loved me so much. The night was so difficult then at noon on Monday November 23, your little body became way too tired. I didn’t believe it but I felt the life go out. With your dad, we gave you this permission to let go, we expressed our love to you so strongly that we carry you, then nothing more…”, she wrote in a Facebook post which had received this Wednesday morning more of 4,000 supportive comments.

A walk of superheroes

“Maxence loved superheroes, do you think cosplayers (people dressed as fictional characters, editor’s note) can come for a nice tribute representing him well? “, she asks.

His call is relayed by the Association against the suffering of painful children (ACSED). “It’s very hard, life is not made for us to lose our children, testifies Corinne, who takes care of this association. Maxence was a crush, a kid full of humor and very courageous. »

ACSED has also opened a kitty to support “Maxence until the end, all donations will be donated to his mother and the rest to research against pediatric cancer”.

From Bigflo & Oli to Emmanuel Macron

Since the announcement of Maxence’s illness, his family has mobilized greatly to raise funds, to fulfill the dreams of the young Cléguérois. In 2018, he was invited by Bigflo & Oli during their concert in Nantes. In 2019, he went to the Élysée with his family. In July 2021, a swimming pool was offered to him after a great outpouring of solidarity and the support of Cyril Hanouna. The whole territory has mobilized for Maxence, many events have been organized since 2018 for the benefit of Cléguerois and his family. In three years, the young boy suffered numerous hospitalizations until his right leg was amputated. His health had deteriorated in recent weeks.

Fight against osteosarcoma

A tribute will be paid to Maxence, Monday, November 29, at the Kerlétu funeral center in Lorient, at 1:15 p.m. Cosplayers have planned something.

As his mother indicates on the Facebook page “Wolverine’s fight against osteosarcoma”, “Maxime did not want flowers but wanted to raise funds to help research against osteosarcoma. Those who wish can make a donation to the Gustave Roussy Institute, a foundation dedicated to cancer research. »
