Jennifer Lopez spoke about her difficult relationship with her mother.

The long-awaited documentary about Jennifer Lopez has finally been released on Netflix. The film was dedicated to the celebrity’s 50th birthday, collecting all the important moments of her life. Including, of course, things that the singer had not talked about before. Thus, in the film you can see the difficult relationship between Jennifer Lopez and her mother.

It turned out that for many years their relationship, to put it mildly, was very strained. As a child, the star quarreled a lot with her mother, it even came to assault. And only years later Jennifer realized that her mother did everything for her good, and without her she would not have become who she became.

“Mom did what she had to do to survive, and it gave her strength, but also toughness. She beat the crap out of me ,” Jennifer recalled.

Her mother and father moved to the United States from Puerto Rico in search of a better life. He was a programmer, and she was a housewife who also had to raise three daughters. When they grew up, their parents divorced. Life was very hard, but Lopez’s mother did everything to ensure that her daughters did not live in poverty.

Most of all they quarreled because their mother insisted on studying, and Jennifer was much more interested in dancing. During another quarrel, the mother said: “If you are going to live in this house, you must get an education . ” After that, Jennifer left the house, slamming the door.

“I wasn’t a perfect mom. But I can say that everything I did was for their benefit. I always have the highest expectations from my daughters. All just to show them that they can do better. It was difficult for me with Jennifer, to be honest. We butted heads a lot ,” Guadalupe Rodriguez said about her motherhood.

Only years later did the relationship between Jennifer Lopez and her mother return to normal. Women are closer to each other now than ever before. The singer is no longer afraid to admit in interviews that she owes her success to her mother. But this is a very familiar story to many, isn’t it?
