Budget renovation of a one-room apartment 29 m² (before and after photos)

Only a little money was spent on repairing the “killed” apartment. Look what happened.

Briefly

The customer is a young girl, works in the hotel business, lives alone, and is pursuing a career. For her, designer Victoria Egorova created a light and cozy interior with a reasonable minimum of furniture and the ability to transform as needed. At the same time, the budget was very small and the deadlines were tight. As a result, the project was fully implemented in two months.

Details

The apartment is located in the so-called Brezhnevka. The previous seller left behind a mortgaged and already legalized second window in the room. In its place they made a decorative niche with shelves and decor. The rest of the layout is the same.

The kitchen is assembled from standard Leroy Merlin modules. Appliances include a free-standing refrigerator, a two-burner gas hob, and a 45 cm wide dishwasher. There are drawers and hinged cabinets for storage.

“Currently, there is no need to complete the kitchen more fully, since the customer spends almost all of her time at work and practically does not cook at home. I provided the opportunity to add upper cabinets or shelves from the same manufacturer, as well as hang a hood and add the necessary appliances. To do this, we installed additional sockets, an outlet for the hood (hidden behind the wallpaper), and made mounting brackets for hanging the upper kitchen modules,” says the designer.

Throughout the apartment, the old floors were replaced with laminate in a calm shade, without a pronounced wood pattern. Light porcelain tiles were installed in the bathroom. The walls were covered with textured paintable wallpaper and painted white.

“Since the budget was limited, we selected a simple metal black bed with a 160×200 cm mattress, a small spacious wardrobe, a shell chair for relaxation and a chest of drawers opposite. And, of course, the most necessary thing for a girl is a floor mirror. It is light and mobile – you can independently move it to any corner of the apartment,” says the designer.

The request from the customer was to minimize cabinets and any pieces of furniture. The idea of an open clothing rail was abandoned in favor of a more practical small closet. Large wicker baskets can eventually be placed on closets and under beds to store seasonal items. Baskets will harmoniously fit into the overall concept of the interior and will only add comfort and individuality to the room.

The interior was given coziness with the help of textiles – snow-white tulle curtains were sewn to order without thick curtains on the windows. There are no multi-storey buildings in front of the windows, and there is no need to hide from anyone.

“A white interior is the ideal backdrop for a decorator’s imagination. In order not to overload the laconic space with details and an abundance of colors, the customer and I settled on snow-white bed linen and decorative pillows and blankets in neutral shades, adding only a couple of details in terracotta color, which reminds us of a surprise in the bathroom. The decor in the form of posters, elegant little things on the shelves and dried flowers in a glass vase was chosen with the same consideration – not to overload the overall impression of our weightless interior. And an obligatory touch to the mood of the entire apartment were two floor lamps, which create a magical atmosphere of comfort in the evening,” says Victoria Egorova.

The layout of the bathroom remained unchanged. A washing machine was placed here, with a special sink with an offset drain placed above it – thereby gaining space in the kitchen. Storage – in a cabinet behind a mirrored door above the sink. Also, in the closet behind the toilet behind the louvered door, you can organize storage of household items such as mops and sponges.

As finishing in the wet area, we used rectangular white Kerama Marazzi tiles; we matched the grout to the color of the painted walls and ceiling, thereby emphasizing the shape of the tiles and adding a graphic touch to the interior. We added black faucets and a heated towel rail, which are fashionable this season.
