The decision to rent out his vacant house was made by a British man to ensure the property was looked after and to generate additional income. In response to his advertisement, a mother with several children made a positive impression, appearing well-groomed, and with well-cared-for and charming children. Convinced that she was a suitable tenant, the man agreed to rent the house to her.
In the beginning, the homeowner made periodic visits to collect rent and ensure everything was in order. He observed that the house was well-maintained, and the mother and her four children were content. Trust was established as she consistently paid on time and demonstrated herself to be a caring and attentive mother. Eventually, they both agreed to handle payments through bank transfer for convenience.
After some time, the woman ceased responding to any communication. Concerned for her and the children’s well-being, the homeowner attempted to visit the house, but his key no longer worked as the woman had changed the locks without informing him.
The fire department contacted the homeowner for access to address an emergency at the property of which he was unaware. Eventually, the door was forcibly opened, revealing that his house was now a complete mess, filled with trash, dirt, and moisture, along with insect larvae and human waste.
Substantial time and money were invested by the homeowner to clean up the house, hiring a cleaning service and starting repair work.
