The Jardin des Plantes, one of the ten main parks, is located in Nantes, France. It is a botanical garden of seven hectares with approximately 10,000 different species and 5,000 different flowers. This botanical park is as much scientific as it is pleasant.

Poussin Endormi presents giant birds sleeping peacefully in the heart of the magnificent garden. The sculptures, designed by Claude Ponti, a French author and artist of children’s books, were part of the garden display. The delightful work showcases Ponti’s great skill in making a topiary.

It creates evenly textured rounded shapes punctuated with metallic details. The adorable bird has been completed with cute bamboo legs and a shiny yellow beak. And the highlight is the lashes-lined chick’s sleepy eyelids!

Each year the Jardin des Plantes welcomes nearly 2 million visitors who also come to rest there from the tumults of the city, enjoy the events, concerts and exhibitions offered throughout the year.
